Abstract of Stored Procedures presentation

DB2 V4 introduced a new major new feature, stored procedures. Stored Procedures offer functional enhancements and performance enhancements particularly important in a client/server environment. Stored procedures are an architectural change to DB2, and a new address space as part of the DB2 subsystem.

This presentation will discuss the main functions of stored procedures, the architecture, and how they function. Performance an management considerations will be discussed. The recommended data for performance and management will be reviewed. Likely future enhancements will also be covered.

Ed Woods' Biography

Ed Woods is a senior Systems Engineer at Candle Corporation. He has 15 years of experience in the data processing industry, primarily in the area of DB2, IMS, and MVS systems programming. He has been a Systems Engineer with Candle for four years, supporting the Candle DB2 and IMS product lines. Mr. Woods has presented at IDUG, Guide, at CMG, and at regional DB2 user groups on DB2 technical and performance topics. In addition, he has presented as a part of Candle Performance Road Shows, and has published articles in Candle Computer Report and IDUG Solutions Journal.
