Abstract

Using LOBs successfully - Theodore Plossl

Surveys conducted by Computer Associates have indicated high levels of interest in the use of LOBs. Using LOBs can be very beneficial and with proper use, you can avoid performance issues. This presentation will discuss the use of LOBs in a DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 environment. We'll discuss LOB characteristics, Usage, Trends, how they work, Extenders and recovery considerations.

Mr. Plossl has been active in the information technology business for many years. Following early retirement from the IBM Co., has performed many consulting and educational opportunities.

Joined CA as a DB2 instructor teaching DB2 database administration and DB2 programming classes. In addition has developed and taught workshop classes for the CA DB2 tools. Currently is part of the CA Technology Services DB2 presales team.

The DB2 Log: What's in it for Me - Theodore Plossl

With the emergence of tools enabling the reading of the DB2 log, this presentation looks at how the information stored there may be used. We start by revisiting the DB2 logging mechanism to understand HOW and WHAT DB2 logs, before looking at the ways in which this valuable resource may be utilized.

North II: I-71 S., exit Spring St., through downtown, becomes Dublin Rd.

North III: Riverside Dr. south, becomes Dublin Rd.

South: I-71 N to 315 N. exit Long St./Dublin Rd. Turn left.

East: I-70 W, to 315 N, exit Long St./Dublin Rd. Turn left.

Airport: 670 W, exit Third St., right at Spring St., turns into Dublin Rd.

Downtown: W. on Spring St., becomes Dublin Rd.

From the West: I-70 E to Grandview Ave. exit right (N) on Grandview, turn left on Dublin Rd.
