Automation Defined! - John Barry

This presentation analyzes and assesses all the popular automation approaches used today, like in-house written tools, JCL generators, Work List processors and job schedulers. Each technology is presented with its capabilities and weaknesses towards achieving a goal of a truly automated utility process.

About the Speaker  -  John Barry

John Barry has been exposed to DB2 for 6+ years. As the Technical Manager for Business Development, John oversees the implementation of CDB/Auto-Utilities in National Accounts at customer data centers across North America. He is proficient in DB2, REXX, and in analyzing technical needs for automated utility solutions. In addition to his experience and insight of the OS/390 arena, John continually provides unique solutions to CDB's research and development unit on new product development.

Leading Edge SQL - Sheryl M. Lasren

What is leading edge SQL and why do you need it? Leading edge SQL are queries that best utilize the DB2 engine's intelligence. You will need these queries if you want your business to be able to survive the resource consumption spikes of successful web applications. Come learn all about the DB2 engines' intelligence and how to write queries that best utilize this intelligence. Numerous query examples will be presented to show how to create high performance DB2 for OS/390 applications.

About the Speaker  -  Sheryl M. Larsen

Sheryl Larsen is an internationally recognized researcher, consultant and lecturer, specializing in DB2 and is known for her extensive expertise in SQL. Sheryl has over 16 years experience in DB2, has published many articles, several popular DB2 posters, and co-authored a book, DB2 Answers. She was voted Best Overall Speaker at the 1999 and 2001 IDUG conferences and was the Executive Editor of the IDUG Solutions Journal magazine 1997-2000. Currently, she is President of the Midwest Database Users Group (M_DUG), a member of IBM's DB2 Gold Consultants program, and is President of Sheryl M. Larsen, Inc. (www.smlsql.com), a firm specializing in Advanced SQL Consulting and Education.
