Meeting at State Auto - 518 East Broad Street (Map)
DB2 High Performance Design 2000The rules for high performance keep advancing with each new version. Old techniques fade and new techniques arrive. This presentation focuses on specific issues to achieve maximum performance using the newer stuff. Topics such as large tables (16TB) and NPIs, identify columns and declared tables, object relational data storage and extenders, buffer pool changes and new page sizes, 24 x 7 continuous availability and the enhanced utilities, and transaction design including savepoints are examined for on-line, ODS, and data warehouses integrated with operational, and distributed and intranet/internet applications. The performance impacts of new SQL functionality are covered including outer joins (big change), table expressions without materialization, UDFs, table functions, triggers and more. Stored procedures have too many changes to list, including those new languages. This is not transitional but how to use the features that are both new and retro-fitted into V6. About the Speaker - Richard Yevich AnnouncementsIDUG discount coupons ($50) will be available at the meeting. The remaining two meeting dates are June 14 and September 20. We are seeking a new site to host one or both of our remaining meetings. If anyone is interested, notify one of the officers. Approximate attendance is 40-50 people.
