SQL Solutions for a DBA's Wish List - Suresh Sane

The SQL solutions presented include periodic audits for a health-check of the physical DB2 environment as well as those providing comprehensive information vital for tuning SQL applications.  The DBA will be able to identify opportunities for performance improvements, the tuner will discover how to obtain all relevant information concisely and the developer will learn some complex and innovative SQL techniques.

About the Speaker  -  Suresh Sane

Suresh Sane is the founder of Database Architects Inc., specializing in database design, tuning and training.  He has worked with DB2 for the last 15 years supporting several large clients using DB2 on various platforms including OO, client/server and ERP applications.

Suresh has presented at the last 5 IDUG North American Conferences and has served on the DB2 OS/390 User Panel at the Orlando IDUG.  He is currently working on an article for the IDUG Solutions Journal.

Turbo Charge the Engine of E-Business, DB2 UDB - Scott Hayes

This presentation will explore methods and techniques for optimizing performance of DB2 UDB UNIX, NT and OS/2 in an e-Commerce environment; Net.Commerce in particular will be used as a case study.  Many aspects of tuning will be covered including SQL analysis, Indexes, Tablespaces and physical design, Bufferpool configurations, and Database configuration values.  OLTP performance in general will also be covered.   Comparisons to DB2 OS/390 will be made where appropriate since many 390 DBA's are now finding themselves with multiple platform responsibilities.

About the Speaker  -  Scott Hayes

Scott Hayes is the president and founder of Database-GUYS, a DB2 UDB EE and EEE Performance Tools Company for AIX, Sun Solaris, HP/UX, and Linux operating system platforms.  Scott is an IBM DB2 Certified Advanced Technical Expert, an IBM DB2 Gold Consultant and a lecturer for the DB2 Symposium.  He has worked with DB2 OS/390 since V1.3 and DB2 AIX since V1, and his diverse experiences have taught him a number of DB2 UDB best practices. Scott is a frequent speaker at IDUG Conferences, DB2 Technical Conferences and local user groups.  He has published a number of articles in DB2 Magazine, the IDUG Solutions Journal and the YL&A DB2 Performance Journal.  Through his teachings and the Database-GUYS Performance Management Tools, many DB2 UDB users around the world are achieving better DB2 UDB performance.
